• Question: DO you work with fossils or bones

      I do every day! It’s great.
      I work with fossil bones and real bones as part of my job to try and understand how fossils form.

      When most people think of fossils they think of dinosaurs but I work with all sorts of fossils including worms, fish, lizards, jelly fish, snakes, amphibians and octopuses! 😀

      Hi,

      I don’t work with fossils or bones. I work with the DNA of living people. By looking at the DNA of the living we can learn things about the past. I think that is very cool.

      But I love going to museums and looking at fossils and bones. My favourite museum is the Natural History Museum in London. It is awesome.

      I mostly work with animals or plants that are alive and still in one piece! I did study fossils and dead animals while I was at university because it is useful to learn where animals have come from in order to properly understand where they are going! 🙂 So looking at fossils helps us to work out how animals have been evolving and changing and predict how they might change in the future, which is helpful in a job where I try to work out how humans affect other animals and how animals might react to that over time.
